what is the mystic sage?

the mystic sage is a pseudonym for my online internet persona. in this reinvention, i choose to explore:

  • my inner thoughts and subconscious

  • prose vs. poetry

  • ethical travel, sustainable societal resources and opinions

  • queer artists, enigmas, and souls to rejoice about

  • countercultures

  • land areas i like to explore and the history behind them

what happened to ‘joie de vivre'?’

if you were previously a reader, or are just curious, this blog/site/thoughtpage was once known as ‘joie de vivre,’ described as the following (which i think is still relevant):

"the quiet joy in being one's self...a spontaneous relaxed enjoyment, a primitive joie de vivre". - Abraham Maslow

“…in the latter half of the century – a time when its emphasis on enthusiasm, energy and spontaneity gave it a global prominence with the rise of hippie culture.” - an idea proposed in Slow is beautiful : new visions of community, leisure and joie de vivre by Cecile Andrews

  • Falstaff, one of Shakespeare’s painted jesters full of life

  • “Carpe, carpe diem;” resurrect the tomb of Dead Poet’s Society

  • Ikigai, or purpose

  • “Wine, women, and song” which might be my new favorite phrase

my life’s joys have included (but are not limited to): pantheism, butterflies, sunsets at harbors, fireplaces in houses that are not my own, kissing friends, new years’ eves, melodic harmonies, my mother singing, laughing at jokes with a crowd or in solitude, anything by craig childs’, sex and self-pleasure, change, and talking to someone older who wants to share their life story.

thank u 4 being here <3
